The origin of everyone’s favorite horrifying, murderous little doll, Chucky, Child’s Play is the seminal ’80s horror film that spawned a franchise that was still making movies as recently as 2019. While most people still know Chucky, many have still not seen the original movie. Chucky the doll is actually the embodiment of the soul of Charles Lee Ray, a serial killer who was mortally wounded in a police shootout. Before he died, he used a voodoo spell to transfer his soul into Chucky, a “Good Guys” doll. When a boy, Andy, receives the doll as a birthday gift, Chucky soon becomes reanimated and is fully intent on continuing to murder people. However, there’s a twist: Charles can escape the doll by revealing his true identity to a human, thereby transferring his soul into their body.
