Inside Calgary’s Library Built Around a Working Train Line
The Facade at Close Range

Seen nearby, the facade becomes less a single graphic and more an arrangement of changing relationships between glass, solid surfaces and timber. The modular hexagonal language can suggest snow crystals, houses or pages, without settling into one literal picture. That ambiguity is part of its appeal. Instead of applying a logo at building scale, the architects created a repeatable pattern that changes as it wraps around the form. The close view also shows how the smooth outer skin meets the textured underside of the entrance.
