North America’s 11 Best Beaches
2. Playa Balandra | Mexico

Near La Paz, Balandra is a coastal landscape of linked sandy bays and unusually shallow-looking water. Its best-known landmark, the mushroom-shaped El Hongo rock, gives the vast blue scene a recognizable focal point. This is a protected natural area rather than simply another beach stop. Follow current visitor limits and local guidance, and remember that the appearance of a shallow bay does not eliminate tidal or weather risks.
