Trash Becomes Wildlife in Bordalo II’s Giant Animal Sculptures
Half Rabbit

Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, 2017
A rabbit rises up the corner of a yellow building, split between a subdued gray side and an exuberant collection of colored objects. One half encourages the eye to read soft fur; the other insists on the hard edges of its construction. The corner makes that contrast physical, dividing the creature across two walls rather than leaving it as a flat image.
