Trash Becomes Wildlife in Bordalo II’s Giant Animal Sculptures
Plastic Palanca Negra

Alfragide, Portugal, 2019
Set among trees, this reclining antelope is built from sharply colored components that refuse to disappear into the woodland. Long, curved horns give the animal its clearest silhouette, while turquoise, yellow and red shapes describe the body beneath them. The natural setting sharpens the contrast: this is unmistakably a wild-animal image made from the visual language of manufactured things.
